The Southbank Centre

Yesterday the band and I played a free 1hr lunchtime set, at The Southbank Centre, on a very fresh and windswept day.

I personally enjoyed the whole thing so much, that I would say it was one of the most fun days I can remember.

It was a slightly different venue than our last gig, and we were really happy to be filling such an amazing space, not to mention the surprise of  the magnificent Steinway grand waiting for us.

Not for long though, as we were made so welcome by Cindy and Rob, and the rest of the crew, that we soon settled in.

We weren’t sure what kind of audience we would have, and were really chuffed at the number of people who paid attention, and came closer for a better view.

Thanks to all of you who bought a 7″, or just came and said hi, especially the large and sociable bunch from entelechyarts.org, and also Clive, former bassist from Timebox.  Coincindentally I’d spent last week really enjoying Patto (his other band) on the great Vertigo Prog compilation “Time Machine”. so I was a bit starstruck.

I had a great experience at the Southbank at last year’s Sandy Denny tribute, so it was a real  pleasure to be back. I hope we can do it again sometime. Thanks also to the Bellowhead boys, who suggested I was worth booking.

After the gig came some hastily-devoured noodles in lovely company, and then and evening hanging out with friends watching “Legends, The Real Beach Boy, Dennis Wilson”.

Next on the agenda, back to Sickroom studios in Norfolk for some more album wrangling. We’re getting tantalisingly close to being finished now.

Great photos of yesterday by Jim Hanner.
